As I wrote about ealier. My car ended up in the shop. After all was said and done. It winded up costing me $520.00. And this was the price before tax. I payed cash. So they let the tax slide.
The repairs were, a new battery (I have an 8 Cyl, so the cost is a little high), a AIC Regulator and gasket. What's that? I asked the same thing. Apparently, it is the equilevent to a choke. Newer cars do not have chokes. They have this regulator instead. Plus I needed an oil change. Or should I say an oil FILL UP. I had an oil change a little over a month ago. When the mechanic called me with the damage. He informed me that my car was completly dry and did not have a drop of oil it it! No wonder why my car felt so horrible. He had to put in 6 quartes. All because when I went to PROLUBE. They did not put in enough oil. So my plan is to go back to PROLUBE to inform them of this error. My engine could have seized and then what? I would have been out of luck because I am in no position to by another car.
IT GETS BETTER
This evening, I was driving home on the Southern State. Suddenly, a State Trooper is shining his lights on my car and is pulling me over. I pull over. He approuches my vehicle. I hand him my license and registration. He inspects my sticks. And asks me where I got my Nassau PBA sticker from. I advised him my father is retired and he gave it to me. He now tells me that there are many things wrong with my car.
#1-I was on my cell phone. I was not on my cell phone. I have a black berry and simply picked it up to see why it was lit up. I had gotten a call and just wanted to see who it was. I was going to put it on speaker phone. Which the last time I checked it is NOT against the law to talk on the phone as long as it's hand free. I can place my phone down while it's on speaker and not have to hold it at all. But that's besides the point.
#2-I was not wearing my seatbelt. Ok. That is wrong. I should wear it. I usually don't. I sometimes do. And I know that I should. So I am going to TRY to put it on. I grew up in a day where we all piled into the front of a truck to go on road trips. I was not raised to wear my seat belt so honestly, it doesn't occur to me to wear it. But it is obviously safer to do so. So I won't try to rationalize why I don't.
#3-He told me that I have no TAIL LIGHTS. I said, "what, are you kidding me"? "Can you check if my head lights are on". So I have head lights but no tail lights yet I have break lights. Oh man. So anyway, he hands me back my license and registration and instructs me to put on my hazzard lights and go home.
I suppose he didn't give me any tickets because of my PBA sticker. I've been pulled over before and would NEVER hand the office my PBA card. Because of the fact that I have a sticker and I feel that handing the card to him or her is like begging to not ticket me. And I don't beg anyone for anything. If I get one I get one. If I don't, great.
So now i'm in a position that it's late. The stores are closed and the only time i'll have to fix this problem is tomorrow morning/afternoon. I first need to get to the library and look up the owners manual for my car. Hopefully they have one. Have you ever tried to find a free manual online? Good luck. Because i've tried and have been unsuccessful. You can BUY one. But there are no manuals for reference only.
Then I have to go to an autoparts store and get some fuses and try to change the blown fuse. Hopefully I can do it myself. I would hate to spend anymore money at the shop and I don't want to ask anyone to do it if it's something I can learn to do myself. It has to be fixed tomorrow because tomorrow night I have to drive out to Nassau County.
So this is my story about my car. My experience being pulled over and my plan to fix it!
