Hi everyyyybody. Here's the deal. I work at St Charles Hospital. The admitting department has taken on a rather large venture. They contacted the school board in the Mastic/Shirley area. They wanted to know if they knew of any families that could use some help this Thanksgiving. The response was, "We have 12 families from which you can choose from". Annette, who works in admitting has the hugest heart you have ever met and couldn't say, "we can only help one family. But unfortunatly, her pocketbook is much smaller than her intentions. She was able to gather enough food through donations to make up baskets for each of these families. BUT. Nobody donated Turkeys or Ham or any meat at all. So we were brain storming, trying to figure out how we could get 20 turkeys for these families. When we realized. We can't haul 20 turkeys to the school. haha. We need to include gift cards from the local supermarket. Otherwise the turkeys may go bad. So....that's how this bulletin got started. I'm hoping that some of you have a giving spirit with a budget to match. I truly know how rough times are these days. But so many people have it so much worse than we could ever imagine and if we each give just a little bit. We could at the very least help someone who has come to a place where they truly believe that nobody cares in this world.
I'd like to prove them wrong :)
I keep thinking of these little kids going back to school after the Thanksgiving break. Remember when you had to write little essays about what you did on your vacation. Well some of course will draw pictures of turkeys and write about their feast. While others will wonder what's it like to have such a meal. It's so sad. And I'm just hoping that together with my friends at work and my friends in the world that we could make 20 families feel normal for ONE day out of the year. If you can't, you can't. I know you would all want to help, but some things are not in our control.
If you feel that you can help this year. We are asking that you purchase a 10-15 dollar gift card from Pathmark. We would include one in each basket. I could swing by you to pick it up over the weekend as the baskets are going to be delivered Next Monday.
You can reply to me on here and we could schedule a pick up!!!!!
If you have any suggestions.
We're open the them :)
Thanks for your help and................
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
