Today, a black man has been voted into office. To be the President of the United States of America!
100 years ago. The prospect of this would have been laughed at. And if this endeavor was spoken out loud. The speaker would have been beaten severely and hung. Or perhaps dragged by a horse until he was ripped limb by limb. Disgusting these realities are yes. But true none the same.
Thank God that this nation has evolved enough to not judge someone by the color of their skin. But by their intelligence and intentions. Not to say that racism is dead. Because I am well aware of it's presence.
Today I feel proud. Prouder than I have ever been.
I realize that I will not agree with EVERYTHING that our president stands for. But I will trust his judgment and pray that he makes the right choices and when in doubt, utilizes his advisors wisely
God Bless America and God bless my dear friends and their ancestors who have struggled and fought and died to see this day possible.
